I noticed last night that when I opened the console in total night darkness, there appeared to be a light on underneath the storage bin in the center console. I could see light coming from the slots in the passenger side of the bin. When I looked in the rear slots of the console, the light looked like 4 or 5 small LED white lights. They seem to be on all the time. Anyone have an idea what this is for?

Did you buy the truck new? or did a previous owner to something.

IIRC the factory inverter is under the console on most of theese trucks, could be a power light from that.

I bought it used as a "certified" vehicle in November, 2010. It has only 31K on it and just hit 3 years from date of delivery. It does have the VIP Toyota alarm system. I'm not sure I can get a good picture of the light. It looks like the back of the console can be removed. If I could take it off, I might get a better picture. Anyone know how to do that without pulling the whole flippin' console?

I think the lights are there so you can see in the dark.

Nope. Not a TRD. Couldn't find one with a stick. All automatics.

I don't know what could have been added. Maybe it's part of the VIP alarm. It detects glass breakage and it might be some sort of sensor. I'll do some more digging this weekend.

As far as seeing in the dark, it's useless. It's more of a dull glow and only visible through the console slots.

Mystery solved. The Toyota tech left his LED flashlight in it when they pulled the console for the throwout bearing and clutch fork replacement. Makes me wonder what else was overlooked.....:frusty:

That's funny, is it a good one? Must be decent to last that long.
