There are several speedo threads on this forum. Seems that most Tacos read high. Check it against a GPS if you have access to one. If my truck says I'm going 80 I'm really going about 74 or 75. The amount of error increases with the speed.

one word of advice....dont drive anywhere in DFW if u dont wanna get passed....lol....but there are complaints about the speedo being off from the factory. like said before, use a gps to see how far off you are...if not, the police radar detection stationary posts are usually pretty accurate

I can tell you that mine was off by 3mph at 60mph (reading 57) and it was verified via GPS and radar (buddy is a cop). Since I went to the larger tires (265/75/16), it is now dead on accurate.

If your tach is at 3000 and your speedo is at 80 then it is basically correct. Actual speed at 3000 RPM is 81.88 MPH. On my truck (same as yours 2.7 manual prerunner), my speedo reads 85 when the tach is at 3000, so it's 3-4 MPH off.

My advice would be to stay in the right lane or drive faster. Whenever, I go to visit family in the DFW area I never have a problem staying with or passing traffic going 10 over the limit.
