Questions running 4.88s with 35" tires

Several questions have come to mind about running 4.88s with 35" tires.

1. Does it get ya back close to standard MPG?

2. How is the shifting? No grinding or anything?

If anyone is running this combo, your opinions are more than welcome.

look up Tacoridinhigh...he was running this setup. but now he is with 37s and trying to go bigger and doing a SAC. his truck is sic!

4.88s are going to put you just pass the factory settings and put you in the more power realm which will, yes, be a little harder on gas.really in the end as long as you are not out on the freeway it only depends on you and how many rpms you let it get to before you shift. in town and on 2 lane highways that are 55 you should be able to control it but once you gear up you will be pushing the rpms at the freeway speeds. it kills gas. he has a chart on his build thread that tells the rpms at different speeds to give you an idea of what to expect.

just punch in the stock 265/70/16 tire and then 35 x anything x 16. it puts you right at the top end of your factory settings. just a little more power than factory. as you can see from tacoridinhigh's specs it is almost exactly on.he was running 3000 at 60 te specs say you will be at 3048 at 65. stay with 33" tires and it jumps up 220 some rpms putting you in the increased power area.
