Scangauge 2 Removal?

Hey so I got a couple quick questions, I just got my ScanGauge 2 last night..so far I'm liking it though I haven't decided where to mount it(thinking on steering wheel/column), anyways was just wondering how to remove the Scangauge plug from the OBDII, do you just pull straight out(or wiggle a little and pull?) until it comes out? I did that the first time but I just wanna make sure how to do it correctly, because I don't want to somehow break anything...or is there a little tab I push in and then pull(kinda like what plugs into the gauge itself). Oh and also, is it fine to keep it plugged in and shut off the truck and get out? Or does it stay on? And last thing, what did you do with all the cord if you mounted it on the steering column?

I never had a problem just pulling it out. You can check other vehicles for codes and then just push it back in. So pull it out, push it in, pull it out, push it in etc.

Alright cool thanks guys I just wanted to be safe. But for anyone who mounting it on top of the steering column, what did you do with all the extra wire?

 

I just coil it up with a wire tie behind the dash under the steering wheel.

 

I put mine "temporarily" in the little cubby hole to the lower right of the steering column. I coiled the wire behind it to hold the scangauge up so I could see it. Easily visible and stealth from the outside. I liked it enough I bought Velcro and attached it there permanently.

The only times I've taken it out is when it goes in for dealership service, and I don't remove the wire, I just unplug the scangauge itself and take it with me.
