Just wondering if the AFE drop in filter, not their CAI increased the intake noise on acceleration.

Like to hear from those WITH aftermarket exhaust.....

    and

    WITHOUT and aftermarket exhaust.....

Nope, the AFE drop-in makes very little difference, taking the secondary out made more difference than adding the AFE, IMO.

I just took out the Secondary. Never knew it was so close to the primary filter. It does seem to impede airflow, if only by a little. There were a lot of plastic shavings from my dremel. I drilled out the plastic rivets.

I'm going to get the AFE and according to the logic that the stock Taco system is ALREADY and CAI system, it makes sense to just change out the filter and not the plumbing.

It already sucks air from outside of the engine compartment, so no need for a whole replacement system that does the same. Just a less restrictive filter.

This is the most cost effective route in my book.

Without aftermarket exhaust.... removed secondary air filter.

Haven't noticed any noise. Very marginal to no gas mileage increase. I'm still getting info on a tank/tank basis on though.

I hear a little more wooosh or whatever from the intake if I hammer the gas suddenly to pass someone or something. It's barely noticeable though, and I have a TBS I'm too lazy to take off that may have something to do with that. Stock exhaust, 2nd filter removed.

Does removing the secondary filter cause any problems with the warranty?

it shouldnt. all that filter is, is a charcoal filter for emissions. they would have to prove that removing that filter caused a problem. almost everyone i know has taken theirs out...including myself on the 06 that i had, and never have had any problems. it actually opens the intake of air up a little bit, making the truck idle better and a little better throttle response.
