Do the Tacoma headlights point higher?

I've noticed since buying my truck that when driving at night people in the oncoming lane flash their lights at me pretty often as if I have my brights on. Anyone else notice that? Was wondering if the headlights are aimed at a higher angle or something.

I think they are. I always get flashed too. My truck is lifted, but I was also flashed when I was stock

 

yah i have the same problem i get flashed all the time too,,. i think i will adjust them tomorrow, or this weekend

 

I adjusted mine and still get flashed all the time. I think they are just brighter in general.

 

Bought my '11 at the first of December, and I was getting flashed quite a bit. I almost went and road-raged on a douche who kept flashing me after I flashed mine back to let him know my brights were off. He then decided to leave his brights on across from me at a stop light. I then decided it was time to adjust my lights before something bad happened... You know, avoidance of conflict and all.

 

its a truck. i would always notice it riding infront of my friends lifted Z71 with my old ride. always seemed like his brights were on. trucks are higher, plan and simple. . . though since ive had my taco (only 2 months) i have noticed that they do have a pretty broad beam low or high. just drive around with your lights off, that'll fix your problem.

 

I believe they are pointed too high from the factory. Many on the Highlanders forums are checking and those are indeed pointed too high from the factory. With my Taco, I angled them down years ago. It was really obvious with the high beams. What good are the high beams if they point so far up that they never hit the pavement a half mile down the road (leaving the whole road in shadow)? Oh, and if you install a brighter bulb, you'll notice it even more.

 

I have no lift, and bulbs that came in the truck when I bought them. I get flashed all the time. I think Toyotas aim high and have brighter bulbs in them. I remember being annoyed big time in my wife's car when a new Tundra pulled up behind us. I guess I should adjust mine, and just maybe I'll have to do the bhlm at the same time?!

 

Adjust you lights correctly, or take it to a shop who has the cool tool to do it. This advice also goes to all the A$$holes on the road infront of me (and you) and behind me (and you)!

 

I used to have this problem with my hilux... until i checked the tire pressure.

They were over inflated by the company. When i adjusted the pressure to the appropriate setting... the flashing stopped.

Just a cheap item to check first.

 

i always seem to get flashed by oncoming cars. then i flash back with my brights/lightforces and they usually get the point..

 

I got flashed frequently until I got them adjusted. Now it happens very rarely. Also truck was and still is at stock height.

 

I bought my Tacoma in decemeber and immediately installed a readylift sst lift with 1 inch blocks, I got flashed all the time. Since I put in the 2 inch blocks and never get flashed. I'll see how it goes when I put my HID 5000k kit in my headlights and the 3000k in my fogs. Im sure people will love me then!

 

My folks always told me to stare at the right hand white line so you don't get blinded by the other guy's beams. Good habit in case someon has the brights on or has them aimed poorly

Our lights are pretty bright.

Mine were a little high from the factory. Way too high once I put 240# sand in back (for weight and traction in snow).

Pretty easy to adjust, up and down is the lower (harder to get at) adjustment screw.

Usually it is someone in a very small car (or older car with dim lamps) flashing me now.

turn your fogs off in town, adjust your headlights and you should be fine. I use to get flashed when I had hid's only bc they were pointed all goofy but after I adjusted them everything was fine.

 

I get flashed too. Mine is stock lights with stock suspension and stock size tires. our trucks sit up pretty high and they come with really bright lights. So if some one in a civic flashes me. i just chalk it up to me being higher than them. it's usually always a small car that flashes me.

 

I'm lifted and I rarely get flashed. Although I adjusted my headlights.

Although my headlights worked to my advantage the other night when some jackass was doing 55 (speed limit was 65) in the left lane in a miata and wouldn't move over. After a few brake checks on me, my high beams went on and I saw him reach up and adjust his rear view mirror. I hate idots on the road. MOVE THE F*** OVER and drive in the right lane if you're gonna go 10 under the speed limit.

 

same here! Plus I close my dominant eye anytime I drive out of town and I see someone approaching around the corner, just in case...
