Hidden Winch Install Pictures

This is for those wondering if it is possible to install a winch in the bumper, IT IS!!! Is it strong and sturdy? Hell Yes, I've pulled myself stuck deep in sand, high grade uphill. Can the fairlead stand abuse? It has.

its the XRC8 by Smittybilt, I designed the mount, cut and bent the metal and had someone ARC weld them on the chassis.

the winch itself is hella strong, pulled me out of trouble multiple times. you have to make sure that you get the steel fairlead if youre using steel line, otherwise it will tear aluminum up.

If you want to use an aluminum fairlead, you need to buy synthetic line. I bought the winch at a discount, I believe it was 340 or was it 240? Anyway, I bought two and the dude gave me a 60 dollar discount per winch.

The fabrication was pretty much trial and error so it cost me a lot but it was done right. The steel and bending cost about 200, the ARC welding another 200, then the price of the winch.

Good thing is that you have this forum, you wont need to do "trial and error" if you do decide to make a mount for yourself. You could just call me up and take measurements off my truck....

I guess I can... Ill cut the metal up, tack weld it with my MIG welder but you still need someone to ARC weld it on -the MIG won't do it as strong as the ARC can.

anyone interested, hit me up and ill see about building them for a fee. It might get kinda pricey, the mounting plate for the winch itself cost me 60 bucks. it is very beefy but very strong -as with anything of worth/strength, the price of material goes up as well.

as soon as i build a kit I can give a more accurate price. but yeah, who wants to be the guinea pig? Someone close to Torrance, Long Beach.. etc.
