9 inch suspension lift questions

So I have been asking around and looking around about trying to put 9 inches of lift on my tacoma so that I can fit 37's

I have found some good information so far but does anyone have the answers to these questions? Preferably someone who has done this. (also I'm not concerned about peoples opinions on lifting a tacoma 9 inches) I will not be doing any off roading this is just for looks I like the look. I do not want to get a body lift.

I currently have a 6 inch pro comp. now from what I understand this leaves the cv angle the same as stock.

If that is correct wouldn't putting another 3 inches of lift be the same as someone putting 3 inches of lift on a stock tacoma?

I know I would need to re-gear with 37's I have been thinking about 4.88 does anyone know if this is correct? and how much do the gears cost?

 

Ya it would be the same as putting a 3" lift on a stock truck as far as cv angles are concerned. It will however make your rear driveline at a super steep angle and may cause vibes.

Gears would be a great idea and they cost about $700 per axel installed.

Have you considered a SAS? You could easily get 9+ inches out of that not to mention it would be bad ass to see more of them done to second gen Tacoma’s.

 

Yes, you will definitely have to re-gear. You should be fine running 4.56 which should be pretty close to bringing you back to a "normal"/stock feel.

Personally, I'd say go with the 4.88

I'm not 100% sure the cost on a second gen (not many out there) but you can easily do a first gen for well under $10k with premium parts. Obviously doing a SAS with coilovers vs. leafs is going to be more expensive.

If you go the junk yard route you could do it much cheaper. My bro. in-law did his own under $4K

Couldn't you fit 37's with glass fenders and bedsides? I'm guessing a pretty good hack at the cab mount would be in order too.

Depends on labor costs but there are the costs for the gears.

Personally I think you should trim and you could fit the 37s with your 6" but it's your ride.

 

Thanks for all the info. not sure If I would be able to get 37's without more lift though... I think that would be alot of cutting.

Also I figured the extra lift will add more of the look that I want.

I think a SAS is not a good option for me too much cash and I don't really think it should be needed if I'm not doing any off roading.

with 9 inches of lift you might get blown over driving down portage and main!
