Why is 2005 hp/torque #'s higher???

    Factory Monster Truck Package with reverse gear.
    Anyone want to make it more clear??? I do know the the early 2005's 4.0L were built in japan then shipped here before they started making the engines here in the states in 06 models...or at least thats what I read

    I remember reading something that said in 2006, the rules about how engines were rated by the SAE was changed, but the engine is still the same.

    Good link. Also changed recently is the method for calculating the estimated fuel economy for a given model, now the numbers on the window sticker are supposed to more closely reflect real-world driving results but some owners are struggling to meet even those numbers. Just a point of interest.

    I remember asking this question to the dealer in late 2005 when I bought my 2006, he tried up-selling the 2005 because of the HP difference

    Good point. I didn't know that, so naturally I'll do some online research about it now. I personally don't think the gas mileage is too bad on my truck. I have a 1987 V8 Ford Van which is horrible on mileage, haha.


    Lol! Clever seller.. So which one did you get? The 05 right, cuz it has more hp?
