So i have been looking in to this for a few days and wasnt finding any good write ups with pictures so i figure i will make one. (picture will come tomorrow)

The plan in to mount 2 ammo cans on either side of the bed and use the bed rail system to mount them. this should be perfect for people like me who want a toolbox but dont have much cash and dont want to give up much bed space.

as of right now i picked up
    -2 40mm Ammo cans for about $20 a piece
-2 packs of eye bolts 2$ a pack (this is so i can add pad locks)
    -can of undercoating spray paint

    I still need
    -bolts
    -washers
    -rubber washers
    -strut channel cone nut

This is by no means the perfect way to do this and should you do this you do at your own risk, but this is how im doing it.

Step 1 get the ammo cans
    [IMG]

Step 2 painting the ammo cans
    [IMG]
Step 3 ( since i didnt have enough time before work) drilled out a hole to put the eye bolts for the padlocks
    [IMG]
final step: drilled out two 3/8 inch holes in the side of the box to mount in the rail system. (pic are of the boxs loosely mounted they needed another coat of paint so i will put up a final pic when its all done)

Finished product already filled up with tools

Subbed! I was just thinking where should I put my new ARB snatch strap and this could work perfect for all kinds of stuff.

I was thinking of trying to fit a 556 can in the cubby holes (well in space between bed and fender) but it didn't pan out.

This might be a neat idea, but right now, enough space for my junk. If I was to travel however.. which won't happen this year.

The big question, did you use paint, plasti, bed liner, line-x, etc...?

Im using Rustoleum rubberized undercoating but im sure you can use whatever you want though i probabaly wouldnt put plasti-dip on them since if you use your bed they will get beat up. if i can find a link to the one i used i will edit this post.
