Need advise on running boards!

What's your honest opinion???. I debating on getting OEM running boards? Do you think the truck will look tacky. My buddys got some from his 2011 and wonts to sell them for $100. Does it make it easier to get in? Any advise would help...

 

get some sliders there like 200 on ebay i think they look way better than running boards

 

+1 on sliders. I got some from Richard Stubbs at www.stubbswelding.com. He's incredibly nice, and they look great. I'm gonna have them welded on in the next week or so.

 

Are the sliders mainly used for offroading?

 

Depends, I mean the design is so that stuff doesn't damage your rocker panels. However, they can also function as steps, as well as protecting you from door dings in parking lots, rogue grocery carts, etc.

It's all about preference. If you know you're never going off road, then the steps will function fine. If you go off road with steps though, you're REALLY likely to damage them, as they hang really low and are thin walled.

There are also bolt-on sliders that don't require welding anything to your frame. The All-Pro ones have a good looking bracket that distributes the load along the length of the frame below the doors.

If you like the look of a slider, but aren't going to go off road, you could check out the n-fab step bars.

Thanks for the advise but No offroading here. I was seeing if anybodys got the oem running boards. And if they really like them and use them.

I've got OEM ones and they function just fine. I have two little kids so it comes in real handy for them to use as a step stool to get up into the truck. No complaints on them.
