Welcome to TW! If you are looking for mods, I think an air intake, a set of Doug Thorley (DT) Headers, and possibly an exhaust system would be a good start! Most of the guys around here have something along those lines.

I like my 4 cyl , it has good power and acceleration, but remember, its not a v8 ,or a 4.0L.
Its not going to be a great accelerating truck ,or even a huge thrill accelerating with all the mods. For now , think about researching threads on the 2ndary filter, pulling the intake piece in the fender, then think about the CAI. After that, the header perhaps. But think about the thought of your $500 or so , how fast you "think" it will accelerate vs. how fast it really accelerates.

ps , I avoided using the word FAST on purpose. For all the fun the truck will be, dont ruin the fun of working on the truck by thinking youll "try it out " ,speed, then the ticket you get kills your insurance. Youll gripe the hp you gained wasnt that great anyway.

Honestly, if I owned her and had cash, I would forget about all the perfomance stuff. Tacoyota hit it on the head - I don't think you'll make it into a gnx anytime soon. Maybe look at audio or even a different set of wheels. Tacos are great looking trucks, but the steel wheels blow.

Welcome to TW. That was my very 1st truck(body style, engine, etc) back in 1989. That thing was a tank. Enjoy your new truck.
