Anyone haveing problems with H.I.D. lights melting their housings.

It was brought to my attention by a friend of mine that some HID lights tend to melt your factory housing on your vehicle. I am about to purchase some and was wondering if there was anyone that could enlighten me, as my friend doesn't own a Tacoma and was just giving me a heads up on what he has heard. If there is any truth to this then it isn't worth it to me.

 

Well Thats what I was kinda thinking but I have heard tell, but haven't seen proof that they melt the lens on the mustangs. Hence the buddy.

 

Maybe melting a foglight housing, but as mentioned above HID typically runs at a lower wattage and therefore lower heat is emitted.

i have had hid, fogs and lamps low and high beam for about 4 months, and have not had any problems

 

I sell a large amount of HID kits on Ebay for many different applications, and have never heard of any melting issues. Any Chris4x4 is right, they operate cooler than your stock bulbs. Just cause they are bright as %&#!, doesnt mean they are hotter! I love my HID's on my truck. You will never drive another vehicle without them. I drive my girlfriends car sometimes, and I dont know how the heck she can see at night. Its that big of a difference.

 

They have one going on now that slimcubby is putting on HID Group Buy...Details inside . Thats what I am getting in on just waiting to pay closer to the date they will be shipped for incase there are problems. The end date is 9-25-08. I am ordering the 6000k head and fog.

Rockstar, how much do you kits cost, and what do they intale?

 

I currently dont have the kits for the Tacoma's. I have recieved a sample from the supplier, and am in the process of ordering some. Havent really worked on the pricing yet. Still in the works.
