This is the first time i've ever heard of plugs needing to get changed out at 15,000 miles. If i were you i'd go back there and ask them where it says to replace them at that mileage.

That was an old Hilux Diesel that they couldn't destroy. I'd be willing to bet that a 2nd Gen wouldn't take that kind of abuse. Lots of vehicles built in the 80's were damn near bulletproof but their newer versions are built to fail and require parts to be replaced around 60k miles, Toyota included. Newer Toyota's aren't build with the same longevity in mind as the older ones. I know, flame on...

Is this the underwear comment guy again???:D:D. Dude,,,,,get a few posts under your belt.

I never complained about the cost of my service. I am well taken care of by my service dept. $180 for my 30k, no worries here.

I am a newbie Tacoma Owner and my Truck was close to the 30K service. I called the dealer where I bought it and they wanted over $ 350 for the service.
I opted to do Oil change (AMSOIL), Oil Filter (NAPA GOLD), Engine Air Filter, NAPA GOLD, wait on plugs till 50K. At 35K will do Differential (AMSOIL) and Cabin Air Filter.

I'm actually surprised they aren't charging more. I just did my own transfer case oil change which cost me all of $22 (2 qts of oil) and called the dealership to see what they would charge for this 10 minute job. Their price was shocking to say the least.

    my build tread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/socal-no-shame-poser-build.513084/

Most dealers have 2 year package deals. I paid somewhere around 300$ to extend my factory service to 75k its well worth having dealership do it. Check into this

Dealerships grossly over charge for services. Not sure why people are stillshocked by that.

It will always cost you substanitally more to pay someone to do something you won't do yourself.

Have them print you an invoice because I bet for $500 they aren't doing much. Maybe a spark plug change and filter swaps. Something that will cost you $80 if you did it yourself.

I bet they arent doing front/rear diff and transfer case change which its due for at that time. That alone I expect a dealer to charge at least $350.

Watched a few videos on your channel. Nicely done.

I like that you list the P/N in your info section.

Do you have the air filter/cabin filter P/Ns for those looking for them? Didn't see it in your info.

Thanks buddy! I've done a cabin air filter change video found here (link to filter used in product description), and plan on doing an engine filter video this weekend.

Did some maintenance today at 23,323 miles.

Changed my rear differential, front differential, and transfer case oil to Mobil 1 75w-90. Front and rear diff oil was very black with very minor/thin shavings on the magnets.

Transfer case oil was honey-colored (expected).

Also changed my air filter and cabin filter.

Summary: change your differential oils earlier than the recommended 30,000 miles.

Check out the DIYs on here by @chris4x4 and @boogie3478 to save yourself hundreds of dollars (close to $1,000 for all 3 services).

The dark oils smell like death.

    Drink beer and have fun.
