HID/Halogen Spot vs Flood(driving?)

Hey guys another one of my stupid questions

Anyways, I've got my 4 lightforce lights now. I have 4 filters, 2 flood/driving, and 2 spot/long distance.

2 of the lights are 35W HID and 2 are 130W Halogen. I'm pretty amazed at the massive efficiency gain from the HID!

Almost 4x less power and quite a bit brighter.

Anyways, took 1 halogen and 1 HID and tried to snap some night pics.

What I'm wondering is if I should put the brighter HID's on the flood/driving or long distance spot filters.

Here is HID flood with Halogen spot:



And here is Halogen flood and HID spot:



It may be hard to tell but the HID is a lot brighter than the halogen in either spot or flood. I also prob needed to rotate the lights to get some diff focusing, but this is an early idea. Again I'll have roughly double this much light, this is only one of each.

Just for fun here is my 4sevens 2xAA flashlight



Good showing for 2 double a batteries!

Spot lights,either hid or halogen are only good for one thing. Distance!
Put your light where you'll NEED it most.

ps:Really liking that first pic.

pss:Why isn't this thread in the lighting sub-forum?

My setup is 2 halogen spot (pencil) beams (Hella 4000 100 watt) and 2 HID Euro (driving) beams...

I like the color of light from the HIDs as it is like natural sunlight, so that is more usefull to me closer to my truck, lighting up more area.

The pencil (spot) beams add light way way down the road to spot cows or coyotes on the road or see the max. distance in the desert. If I had the bucks, I would convert them to HIDs.

Here is a sample of the light affect... looking across a street into a grassy park area that is a bit elevated from the street... trees in distance:

STOCK HIGH BEAMS:



HID EURO (DRIVING) BEAMS:



HIDs + HALOGEN PENCIL (SPOT) BEAMS:



Here's when we just finished installing them:



You can see the color/ brighness difference betwen the 35 watt HIDs (on the outside) and the 100 watt halogens (on the inside).

Ya I was actually thinking that. Get the driving pattern lights on the HIDs and the spots just my halogens.

Too bad you have to have offroad lights covered here in BC, Canada. Would make a huge help to my brights, just light up all four of those guys.

If you have interchangeable lenses, why not try combinations... like one HID spot with a halogen spot and one HID driving with a halogen driving?

Haha, I guess I could, jusst be weird to have one half be HID spot and the other halogen spot. But takes 5 seconds to try once I get the lights installed. The covers/lenses pop right off.
