How bad does the damage on my truck look?

This morning on my way to work, a lady in a Chevy Tahoe was on her cell phone and wasn't paying attention. Cars in front of me came a sudden stop, I stopped. She swirved tried to miss me, but hit the corner of my truck.

My truck is a 2010 DC LB Sports 4x4 with 12k on it. Anybody here had similar damage and can tell me how bad the damage is? The whole bed shifted over and is crooked. The tailgate fell out, so I strapped it in the bed.

What has be concerned is the bed shifting over towards the passanger side. Hopefully the frame is not damaged. I've also heard that if they have to replace the bed, it may be totalled.

 

dagum! i had the same thing happen to me...some idiot flyin down the highway with no sense slammed into the back of me...it was in the 1000s to repair it all...idk man, im sorry!

I thought I was okay right after the accident, but a couple hours later, my back started cramping up.

She was driving a Chevy Tahoe. I think her truck won this one.

A local police was like 10 cars behind us, he filed the report and said it was pretty obvious that it was her fault, no need to launch an investigation.

Looks fixable, but take it to a repair shop and have them look at it. The worst you will be out is your deductible and her insurance should cover that as well. Def get your back looked at too, back injuries are nothing to joke about. Hope it all works out for you.

 

The bed on the passanger side shifted and does not line up with the cab anymore, which has me concerned about everything shifting to the right.

 

Do not sign any kind of medical release, even if they make an offer.

You may (or may not) have some injury related to this accident, and it may take time to show up.

Talk to your insurance company about treatment options that will eventually be the responsibility of her insurance. They can facilitate the process.

Don't look too bad. Have yourself checked out ASAP! Also can you say UPGRADE!!! I would have a Relentless Fab or ATO rear bumper on order as my replacement right away.

 

That's what I was trying to capture in the picture below. The gap between the bed and cab is way bigger than it's suppose to be. The bed is sticking out an inch or two past the cab when you look at it from the side.

As lightweight as our composite beds are, I'd be surprised if there are any frame damage.

 

i had a similar accident and it was between $5,000 and $6,000 for repairs. It took them about 2 weeks to repair it.

 

Glad your relatively ok! I had the same thing happen to me back in 2005. I had my truck for 2 weeks when a lady on the Mass Pike rear ended me when traffic came to a halt. She hit me going about 40. Fortunately she had a smaller car and went under me. Even so, damage came to $14K. New frame, bed, etc. Good luck.

 

Exact same thing happened to me. They will replace the bed entirely and you will have damage to your cab where the bed hit. Costs for my repair for in the mid 4's. GL and if you have any questions shoot me a PM.

On a serious note: it could have been much worse...glad your ok but get your back checked.

 

First of all if you hurt go to the dr NOW. Back problems really suck.

I stopped by a body shop yesterday evening, and another one today at lunch. Both estimate around $6,000, assuming that there are no frame damage. Both said they wont know about the frame damage until they get everything torn apart and on the rack.

I love the truck, but I think I'm gonna tell the insurance adjuster to check for frame damage, if it's tweaked, I don't want the truck back. I didn't pay $30k to be driving a truck that had structural alterations.
