ok got a call from toyota to do the 30,000 mile service. But I like to do most myself. I have the 2006 Double Cab V6 2wd

One thing I havent heard before was " retorque the propellar shaft" ?

How necessary is that, and what kind of torque? I havent read the manual yet so just asking?

Also I ask them about replace plugs with Iridium>? They go to the manager and he says I cant replace my plugs with Iridium on that model, I have to use standard? I have seen on these threads others have switch so I question that? Anyone else heard anything about not using Iridium?

I was going to do the plugs on my '06 a month ago... Napa quoted me $12 each for plugs, so I didnt do them. But I havent looked into a reason for the expense. Any leads here?

Ive done all of my services also, almost ready to hit 40000 miles. I checked the clips on the rear diff.. and found bad universal joints. Thats all there is as far as I know. Normally a propeler shaft a front drive axle as Ive heard

Thanks! Rick Hendrick is pretty good to work with so far, but I usually do most myself? Still probably buy my parts from them for the 30,000 mile change.

with a 2 wheel drive, at 30k, its a really easy diy!!! oil and filter change, replace the diff fluid, check air filter, rotate tires, and change the spark plugs.............and mostly everything else is just checking everything over. on the 06 i had, when i did the 30k on it....i just went with the standard denso copper plugs...about $3 or so a piece at the dealer. i didnt see any point in changing over to iridium(although you can do so) with what they cost, and no real power/mileage gains from them.

im pretty sure the ft. lbs for the prop shaft(driveshaft) are 60 ft lbs, and i think its the bolts around the shaft near the transmission.

Its the bolts that connect the drive shaft to the transmision. ANd that connect the drive shaft to the rear axel. If you follow the drive shaft up to the tranny, you will see the bolts that need to be torqued. Just stick a wrench on them and give a tug. Main thing is to check for looseness. :)

for the plugs i just put the factory plugs that i got from the dealer for around $3 a piece. It's not too bad of a diy, the two rear plugs in the driver's side takes a little longer, since you have to move some hoses and brackets out of the way and some long socket extensions work really well on the driver's side. As far as the propeller shaft re-torque don't know much about it, searching here in TW to see if i find anything.
