Went to pick up some topsoil and mulch today. The truck is earning its keep!

the tacoma looks like its handling that load of mulch nicely!!! good job! my 02 f150 got a load of damp compost like that one time, and i had to keep it on the road very steady because the front tires were coming up off the ground!

Did you put something down in the bed so that it would be easier to clean?

I was wondering if our trucks would be okay for a tractor to dump a load of lava rock in my truck without scratching the sides of my truck? I need some for landscaping I'm going to do this summer.

She's the V6 with 6-speed manual, a 2005 model. Worked great. I could feel the load back there, but bottoming wasn't an issue aside from one particularly bad bump. Half of what was in the bed was topsoil, and that stuff was damp and HEAVY.

I personally wouldn't bother putting anything down on the bed. Mine has seen rough use and shows scratches and a gouge or two. That composite material is extremely tough. Some folks may want to keep the bed in better condition than I maintain mine.

I carried a cast iron clawfoot tub in the bed for several hundred miles, with feet that were narrow and pointed at the bottom. I figured I would have deep gouges afterward, but instead had scratches that today I can't even find.

After shovelling the topsoil and mulch out of the bed (which likely left a few more scratches behind from the pointed spade), I used a broom to get the rest of the stuff out. At some point I will visit a u-wash to get the dregs and dirt which currently coat the bed. The bed looks well used, looks good to me.

My motorcycles are always dirty also. A clean vehicle is the sign of a sick mind!

Thanks! Not bad for a cell phone camera.

I love Floyd! Travelled to Munich last July to see David Gilmour in concert. I have tickets to see Rogers Waters (second time for me) in Toronto in July.

Maybe some day we will get a chance to see the four Floydians together again, such as they were in the recent Live8 performance.

A few months back i got some compost loaded in the bed.. I should have taken pics of it too!
It was moist and heavy but it handled well. The place where I got the compost had a driveway that connected to the highway (60mph). The truck didn't have any problems accelarting up the slight incline to that speed with all the cars coming from behind! I removed the bed liner and so it was easy to clean out!
    I love this truck!

There really is no bed liner per se. If you lay underneath your truck, you will see that the black composite material is all there is. It makes up the entire structure of the bed inside and underneath.

The fenders are attached permanently. You couldn't possibly take the bed apart for hauling. Doesn't make sense.

Could our writer have the earlier generation taco, with steel bed and added bedliner?

sorry, I have a rubber bed mat. It is hard to keep it looking clean... so I rolled it up and left it in the garage. The composite material is so slick I got that mat with the truck. Nothing moves on that mat.

Ahhh makes sense now! I used a couple of interlocking rubber mats in mine for a while. They are indeed a good idea.

But lately the truck has seen usage where I took it out, such as the above mess, and motorcycles. Those movable tie down rings did well holding up a 700lb bike, although I also used the tie down rings in the floor to hold the rear of the motorcycle.

I also bought two more of those tie down rings to add to the floor in the front. I will report here when I do it.
