And if the repair is huge, usually you can work with the dealer on a trade in and offset most of the expense on a newer ride :)

The extended warranty was transferable with the car which I got a great deal on from the original owner so yes I paid for it. Sure the repairs would have cost less at an independent shop. Back then I was a wrench at a GM dealership and could have done it myself. I am no longer in that business and have no desire and less time to do any major repairs.

You are one of the lucky ones and have never needed it, I havent been so lucky. At $800-$1000 for insurance is a reasonable cost INMHO IF, that's IF you need it. I've been paying car insurance for 15 years and never had to use it but would hate to pay that bill!

No I dont need Xanax and no $1000 wont break me for any repairs however a buddy's 07 taco had an engine failure and was out of warranty. That repair bill might cause you to take Xanax and I'd be happy to be out 1k for the "Service Contract"

Thanks to all that have helped.

That "repair bill" is extremely unlikely though. If it were a common enough event worthy of insurance against it...well who would buy a Toyota? EVER? Oh and the "Service Contract" would cost a whole lot more as well.
