Stock Fog HID Conversion ?

i know there are write ups on this but no1 is responding and im trying to order from ddm right now. i did the headlight swap the other day. took me 20 min. have a question about the fog lights. so you go from factory connector of the fog light to the ballast to the bulb. no ground or power source from battery? im assuming this process is just for the controller (high/low bulb) on the headlights? im trying to get the slim kit from DDM. what bulb type H10? if anyone wants to just tell exactly i need it would be much appreciated.

 

H10. If you did some trimming on the inner fender plastic, it will make it so much easier in the future to change out bulbs or adjust the fogs. If you take off the front grill, you can mount all the balasts and run the wiring pretty easily.

 

yea its just a ballast and 2 wires that plug into to your factory harness....nothing goes to the battery just 2 wires from the ballast and 2 wires from the bulb and the fog light bulb number is 9145 and the headlight is hb2

 

As everyone else has stated, just get the H10 Kit. The wire is usually long enough to have your ballast up around by your headlights/grill

 

so no harness needed just the base kit?

 

i still say its safer to do the relay and stuff. dont wanna blow fuses or burn up your wiring/truck. dont kick yourself in the ass later. get the wiring harness. Just some advice.

 

also IIRC, reading somewhere here.. .55w will do dmg to the fog light housing? or some sort of discolor?

Yep, don't bother with the 55W or this will happen to you. I have also seen it on a handful of other vehicles also. The headlights were 55W 6000K HID's and the hue changed from a slight blue to pink.

Just a heads up on DDM there are so back ordered on everything they sell right now....... i ordered HID kits for my headlight and fogs 3 weeks ago and just got a e-mail after i sent many asking where my lights were they don't even excpet to get more in for another 4 weeks..... i ordered 3 weeks ago and its might be over aother month before i see them.... i'll keep you posted

This was Slim's kit from the Group Buy...lol Slim's customer service has been great though. I actually bought 3 kits from him.

 

... i fling poo... cow poo.... man oh man does chino smell sometimes... anywho, should i modify my order for a 35w? unlike the picture, the bulb is in the projector... and not in the housing directly..

 

I would because the 35W Is plenty bright and I have not seen any type of hue change. To be honest, the 55W wasn't as bright as I thought it would be. I also like the 35W slim ballasts more than the 55W ballasts.

 

well then....ill keep my headlights 35w, my fog lights 35... then my hellas 55!!!!!

just like the OP, imma run HID for my stock fog soon

 

All 35W 6000K slim ballast kits. The grill has Hella 700's converted.
