Cool, thanks. I couldn't find mobil1 without the additive. $9/quart isnt too bad I guess.

My front oil was pretty nasty looking. Lot of gunk on the nut too. I'm just over 20k miles. I was having some vibes/weird feelings from it, hopefully this helps.

Just took it out for a drive, differential is smooth as glass again! Thank god it was just the fluid, thought I was going to have to start looking at the fix in the vibration thread.

05-08 TRD Sports have mechanical LSD.

09+ do not, they use pseudo LSD (computer controls brakes to rear wheels)

TRD Offroads don't have mechanical LSD at all, so you should be fine with regular dino or synthetic gear oil.

Have a 2013 TRD SPORT with the rear LSD. Do I need to add the LSD additive? Did they change rear ends after 2009?

You don't have the mechanical LSD, you don't need the additive.

Any auto parts store should have them. Usually right next to the gear oil too.

Just did the rear diff and transfer case in my 07 4x4. Used 75W-90 for both.

Rear diff plugs were tough to get off but did eventually. Transfer case plugs were both really easy to get off and since I just bought the truck I wasn't sure how the fluid would be. Rear was fairly dirty but transfer looked brand new. I replaced anyways to make sure.

Now to tackle the Front! I have a skid plate but it is forward of the Front Diff so I have good access to it.

Thanks for the DIY on this, great info!

    Mike
