First off, sorry if this is in the wrong category but I felt it didn't belong in the buy/sell and I didn't think it was off topic either.

Feel free to move it if I am wrong :)

So went to the dealer last night with all my research and such and I got them down to $1000 below invoice. I know they would have gone lower, I got up to walk and he asked for a price that would satisfy me to close this deal tonight. Even mentioned they could do the leather and heated seats at cost ($1200) through a 3rd party so no mark up on their end (least that they said).

This was for a 2011 Tacoma Access V6 2WD TRD-Off Road with the tow package and subwoofer (frankly doesn't sound that great).

So how low do you think I could go? I got them to $25,284, the invoice I asked for showed the price $1000 higher.

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

I think you might be able to get lower, the MSRP on my truck was 26k and they had them on sale for 24,990, then I got another 1000 off because they had a college graduate program. (they had to photocopy my diploma and everything)

What is the window sticker price?

In 2008 my DC Sport 4x4 stickered for $32,400. I got it for $26,900 (no rebate at that time).

Sticker was right under $28k, called them back and got it down to $25150

Think I am going to take it. I search ALL of northern California (literally) and no one else has a v6 4x2 TRD access cab.

They all have 4x4 or double cabs.

A little of this and a little of that.
If it's $25150 with leather, out the door total price, I'd say go for it. That seems pretty good for a Prerunner V6 Auto to me. Good luck.

All depends on what the configuration is.

My truck stickered for 36,700, so I felt fine about 32,500 out the door.

Get what you need and or want. people who have 4WD believe nothing less will do. however there are a whole lot of PreRunners here who had a choice and chose the 2WD and are not sorry. Some without a locker!!!! Can you believe it?

Is the added expense worth it for 4WD? Will you use it enough to justify the additional insurance, higher EW costs, and maintenance?

Depends. Different areas will have different prices due to cost of living. Better to look at things in terms of percentage off of sticker.

I don't think a 2WD TRD off road exists. If you are buying a 2011 2WD, I'm pretty sure it's the base model. Could be wrong, but pretty certain here.

He probably did not mention it was a PreRunner and they are offered with TRD OR packages with or without JBL

OP you got a great price. Dealer cost is more than you are paying AFTER the holdback. Take the seats and run. Do not buy a Service Contract. If you must have one get one from a discount seller online and wait a couple years. You did well.

yeah I'm on my 2nd prerunner and I love them, they're lighter and cheaper than 4x4s and I never need/want a 4x4 so no reason to get one

I went back and fourth to the dealer 3 times before I took my truck home. I think the sales manager hated me at the end because the third time I went, he was like "just take it already" and I did! Sticker was $26800, took her home for $23500. :D

Ignore the invoice and the window sticker other than to know what packages the truck has. Go the Edmunds.com and put your vehicle that you want with all of the options and it will give you a TMV price. This is what people have paid for the same vehicle. Pay TMV or lower and you are doing well on price. The dealer left out that they they are getting a 1500. or 2000. holdback (profit) after they sell you the vehicle. Nice job walking from the dealer. They will be calling and trying to get you back in. You will always get a better deal if you walk a few times. Also the end of the month is better.

Find a fresh used and save a fortune. I got my '06 AC 4x4 with shell (30K miles) a little over a year ago for $18,999.

Remember, a new body style is right around the corner.
