Looking at buying a 2009 tacoma double door sr5 with 26000 miles. What would be a fair price to offer? It comes with the following options. Thanks

    • SR5 V6 Package
    • 4 WHEEL DRIVE
    • Locking Rear Differential
    • Alloy Wheels
    • REAR BACK-UP CAMERA
    • Bedliner Package W/ Movable Tie-Downs
    • Wheel Mounted Audio Controls
    • Traction Control
    • Tow Package
    • Air Conditioning
    • Power Group
    • Stereo/CD

Seems like a fair price to me. See if you can get them down to $22K

You should check KBB and Edmunds and see what they have to say about the pricing.

But before you pay anywhere near their asking price, a couple of weeks ago I paid $26,200 for a new 2011 with the same set of options and the "ripoff" (IMO) SE Toyota ToyoGuard package ($699) and dealer "installed" safety pinstriping ($99). Don't know where you're at, but this was at Erdman Toyota on Merritt Island, FLA.

Offer $4000 less see what they counter with. If they counter with $24K Offer $23k chances are they will hold at $24K and that would be a great price IMO. Trade in is all over the map between Edmunds and KBB and NADA....I would guess they paid no more than $22K ACV on the trade. Likely less if the trader was baffled by numbers.

I would say top dollar $24K plus TTL IF it has the TRD pacakage otherwise $22,500. Not a penny more $6000 is a fair savings for 24K miles. Not all that much different from a 2011. Remember you only have another 12K of full warranty and an extended Service Contract is no where near as good as the 3/36. This is based on being able to get a 2011 for less than $30K. Dealers want you to see the minimal difference and use the used to sell new inventory. It happened to me but I needed up getting $4000 off "asking price" on mine insisting I won't buy new. So either they moved a vehicle and made $2000 or lost a sale. The gap between the best new price and your price has to be at least $6000 to make it worth while.

At a $4000 savings for two years I am not sure even I would not go for the new one. IF I did not save over $7000 on mine used with 24K I would not have bought it.

I am assuming a TRD OR package...... If it does not have the TRD package drop another $1500 from your offer,

I used Truecar for my NEW price Those low "local prices" do not include Dealer fees which can be $500 in some cases. Usually they send back a figure below invoice when you actually email those dealers.

Im beting they take it and nickel dime you in the F& I office. be careful and hold to YOUR price. Its a fair price. You can usually take $2000 off the top of any used car and make a deal. Mark ups are very high on the used stuff..especially high resale perception vehicles.

for 3.5k more than their asking price you can get a brand new one.
i would go that route for sure. always thought tacoma sellers of 1-3yo are on crack with their asking prices, when you can easily just buy a new one for just a little more.

anyway, invoice on that truck is 29.5k sounds like it's double cab 4x4 v6 TRD Offroad package and tow package.
plenty of dealers will go invoice...plus it's 2011, new, what color you want, plus 0 miles, you get to deverginize it how you like ;p

If he gets that truck for $24k OTD he beat new by well over $6000. Thats a pretty nice savings for 24k miles. And deprecation going forward will be a lot less as well. the big hits have been taken by the original owner.

If they hold at their asking price, which i doubt, he is better of buying a new one IF he can get it for $29,500. depreciation is nasty on a new vehicle. the first years payments are chewed up by depreciation.

Well the dealer said no to the 24000 offer. So I'm regrouping left that dealership drove 50 miles to the next one and now looking at a brand new double door with trd off road package. Have them down to 29750 without tax and license. Thanks for replies.

Yeah screw em . It will be intersting to see if they call you back. You should be able to find what you want and save $5000 over a new one. If not make the best dam deal you can on a new one.

Good move with the OTD pricing.

That stops them from manipulating the associated fees (tax, title, prep etc.).

For a reference point, my 2011 TRD OR DC with JBL was 31K OTD.

    Good luck with the deal...

Southeast Toyota sucks....They put $299 mats ON THE MONRONEY and in some cases I have seen $299 for tint as well on the sticker! SET adds this stuff at the port and makes a nice profit before the vehicle is sold from the dealers who buy them.THEN And sell their own Third party " Factory Toyota Warranty" (administered by Fidelity which is owned by.....yep you guessed it... SouthEastToyota...Toyoguard which is a sohisticated "mop and glow" plan.
