I can't take credit for this. A buddy of mine said that he saw a Tacoma on the way to a Bama game with two 'window flags' mounted in the bed. He got as good a look as he could while driving, then tried it himself. He told me about it and I've been flying my flags in the bed ever since.

Let me know what y'all think!

(BTW, This is useless for anybody with a toolbox in the bed... Window flags can easily be mounted like Tigerfan did here.)

    1) I think they look best in the back of the bed... so first, move one of your tie-downs as far back on the track as you can:

    20080921_01.jpg

    2) Stick the window flag into the track 'backwards.' You have to angle the flag to make it go in, then straighten it back upwards:

    20080921_03.jpg

    3) Once the flag is in the track, slide it down so that it is firmly against the tie-down:

    20080921_04.jpg

    4) Move the second tie-down to the back of the truck so that it firmly holds the flag in position and tighten it down. The flag pole feels a little loose, but it's not going anywhere. You can move it around a little, but you can't break it loose.

I've driven with my flags like this at interstate speeds several times. No worries.

The one draw-back of this method, though, is that your flags aren't secure when you leave the truck to go to the game (or into the store, etc.). Somebody can't roll your window down to take your flags, but the can certainly move your tie-downs.

Genius!! I just bought an access cab (arrives in a month), which doesn't have rear windows that open. Meaning that I can't drive around with my Flames flag, and have the windows open at the same time. This really should be stickied, or added to the cheap mods page.

I know I said I liked they way the flags looked in the back, but I moved mine up close to the cab this week and I think I like it more. The cab shields the flags from some of the wind at interstate speeds, so they still fly, of course, but won't tear up as fast.

I like this setup. Looks like it plugs into the trailer hitch? Is that a custom made flag pole?

no law against it...i choose NOT to fly it on the interstate, but it would hold up if i did

it indeed plugs into the hitch and locks in via a hitch pin...its not custom but could easily be made if you can bend square tube

i bought mine from SportMast or something...but i got it at a wholesale price...didnt pay retail

    good point!
