Caught another one in my Havahart this morning. The traps make a head shot a sure thing. In B'ham it costs too much to drown them. Our sewer board charges quite more for gray water than potable water. Or is that grey Squirrel water?

Get some old panty hose and put some mothballs in it. Place a few of these around engine area. It will drive them away. The last thing you want is to bait them into engine area. I have seen these little "Tree Rats" go into the vent systems of cars and chew through cabin filters and stink up the vents with waste.

    Or hire these guys

I feel for you subby. I just had my truck fixed due to the grey squirrels bastard little cousin, the chipmunk, gnawing on some wires. The little bastards ate through the wire harness for the knock senors and a little more. About an 18 labor hour fix to remove everything and put it back. I like the idea of a suppressed pellet gun...........

Um, the squirrel is going to be hysterical thrashing around in the trap. Dunk him in the water and he's likely to take a great big breath and be dead in seconds.

Unless you're going to get headshots every time on the little bastards, shooting them with a pellet gun can only maim them sometimes. Plus, there's no chance of ricochet and if you hide the trap behind a trash can it will be out of view of nosy neighbors.

Fair enough, but if you keep a recycle bin full of water, pull the trap+squirrel out and bury him in a hole or on your compost you can re-use the water.

You can maybe try getting a couple of cats. I keep my Chevelle at my parents garage and squirrels were storing their nuts on top of my intake. I ended up getting a couple of cats and they stopped.

Damn it .... I just went to change the cabin air filter and found a huge squirrel nest on top of the air filter. It was freekin' huge and took me an hour to vacuum it out.

Any able to tell me how the heck they gain access to the air filter so I can block it with something?

    Thanks.

I pulled up the shroud that stop leaves from dropping into the HVAC.

You can see the new, clean filter down the hole.

The squirrels are getting in there by going up into the wheel well and through these little holes. The holes are down in the area next to the opening for the filter. There are located on the fender side.

Gonna go buy a bunch of steel wool and stuff it in there and see what happens.

i wouldnt stuff steel wool up there, just put mesh in there, even chicken wire would work so they cant get in.
if they want in bad enough, they will pull the steel wool out

Steel Wool is raw steel, and will turn to a big brown ball of rust in no time. Get some mesh that is zink or galvanised coated to prevent rust, use a cardboard form to get a rough opening measured and cut a screen a bit larger than the hole. I'm talking the really thin mesh, to a human we can bend and form at ease, to a Varment, it's like a steel cage.

then force it into opening and make sure to tuck it in as far as you can, because the rat/squirrel most likely will not be able to pull it out, good luck

Or, you can buy "CHORE BOY" Copper scouring pads that are the copper cousin to steel wool. All crack heads use it as a filter in crack pipes. Ask your local dealer for the 4-11(information). Seriously there is a copper version sold in most hardwars stores, just don't get pulled over with it on the passangers seat.
