Well after putting it off for a while, and contemplating the pre-made insert, I decided to do one from scratch.

The mesh is 20g carbon steel with .250 holes and approx 5/16 centers.

    Photo0274.jpg

I made the mesh in the fab shop where I work. I think it looks pretty good. A little different than what I've seen on this site.

Is that mesh painted? it looks like the original mesh metal color. If it isn't I would say paint it to blend in a bit more. UNLESS you like the mesh to stand out a bit. Personally I like it when the mesh is painted black to blend in. just my 2 cents :)

I like how yours looks and would maybe be interested in one myself. I have virtually zero tech skills though...I'd need directions for install.

Love the look. Great job. I think it would look even better without the emblem though. Either way its a very great job

^^ Still have a piece to do the bottom, this weekend maybe.

^^ Was gonna paint it black ( still might ). Wanted to see what the metal would look like. It's sanded and clear-coated for an " industrial " look.

As far as the original emblem....I might take it off. I'm thinking a Metalmiller emblem or maybe none. I really appreciate the feedback, keep it coming.

Looks good! How did you do the triangles? I want to do them too but haven't figured out the best way to do it yet.

The triangles are faux satoshi. I cut the mesh to fit, drilled 3 small holes and ziptied them on. I was going to open them up ( cut the whole triangle out and mesh behind ) but I was a little concerned with water being thrown directly on top of headlight assy. With DTRL's, didn't want to chance it.
