URD MAF CALIBRATOR INSTALLED UPDATE

Ok ladies and germs< I thought I would update you on my quest to get my MPG back with my CAI (K&N model 63 w/plastic tube). I had pulled the CAI off to move because i was gonna be moving with lots of trips. I knew what the MPG was at that point, so after badgering Gadget at URD I purchased the MAF Calibrator and installed it and reinstalled the K&N with no other mods. My impressions:
1. The MPG came back to basically where it was without the K&N so yes, it did what Gadget said it would do.
2. I was HELLA nervous at the mere thought of soldering into the ECU harness so here's what I did. First, I pulled each harness plug out and labeled each one with a marker (A,B, etc), then I checked (TWICE), the location of each wire and it's color to make damn sure it was the correct ones. I then soldered the most difficult to reach ones first. I looped all of the wiring so that the module could sit in the glove box with no wires hanging down. I used shrink tubing to seal the solders and prevent shorts.
3. No engine codes came on, YES!
4. I feel there is a little less torque below 3K RPM.
5. Passing, above 3K and wide open, Jesus Christ this thing fuckin moves!
6. Took a couple of tanks for my right foot to settle down and drive it to get the most out of this mod, it changes the way you drive.
7. I have not run the software that came with it yet, but plan to mod it a little further. I'd like to get some of that torque back without giving up too much MPG.

I have the Ernie Banks 3 inch monster exhaust as well, thought it was the exhaust that was sucking the gas out of it, turns out it was the K&N. Check this, I never floor it, ever, don't have to. Closes that I get is getting on the freeway, though I sometimes manually shift the auto tranny to get the high end torque out of it. For shits and giggles I'll punch it to get around some jack-ass on the freeway, as I go by I will make sure it's real close to the jack-ass so he can hear this bitch roar as I sail past him.

run your URD 02 sensor and you'll be fine

 

i believe the resonator counts as a cat as far as looks go, but i could be mistaken. here in az if the CEL is not on you are good

 

I think that Gadget told me that the URD O2 sensor thingy mods the O2 reading, it doesn't replace it. Either way, headers will be the last mod unless I find a huge bag of money and stick the SC on there

 

correct, it tells your ecu cats are there to keep the CEL off

 

I know a smog guy that will just "not notice" certain things, as long as there are no engine codes and the numbers look good.

 

Well that's good for engine codes but it doesn't fool the tailpipe probe, I'd rather keep the cats and weld em on to some shortys, then I will never have to swap them back and forth.
