Bed removal pictures

Hey,

After searching high and low (TW and the internette en generale), I could not find any pics of bed removal on a 2nd gen Tacoma.

If anyone has links/pics/any info whatsoever, I'd love to bear witness to it!

i seem to remember coming across some descriptions and maybe pics when i was searching on fuel pump removal...some suggested to move the bed to access the top of the tank and claimed it be easier than removing the tank...i ended up dropping the tank...bout the most help i can give

 

Hmm, I couldn't find anything by searching along those lines either.

Are you talking about the whole bed? or just the bed insert (the composite)?

 

It is really easy to remove. Undo the bed bolts, unplug the taillights (the housing should stay with bed), remove tailgate and once the bed is lifted a little feed the gas filler neck through the hole or it might unhook.
I have helped take off a few chevy beds to replace fuel pumps so it should be pretty much the same process. Oh and the Chevys had a ground strap from the bed to frame so look out for that.

 

did you ever take your bed off? just wondering as i'm thinking about pulling my bed off to drill a bunch of holes in it for attachment points for gear. (high lift, shovel/axe mount/bin and cooler tie-downs...) Seems like by the time i try to get nuts and washers up in around all the stuff under it i'll have spent more time (and probably been unsucsessful) than just taking the bed off....
