ive got a 06 prerunner tacoma. v6 automatic transmission 112k miles
takin my gf out to dinner and i noticed there was a slight delay from 2nd to 3rd. but it only did it once.

then on the way home from dinner. i took off from a red light and all of sudden the truck jerked and it wouldnt shift up from 3rd. the little check engine light came on. but it would shift down no problem and back up fine until it was time to shift from 3rd to 4th and it will not shift up to 4th.
so in the end i got cockblocked by my truck and im trying to avoid my wallet getting destroyed.

    any ideas on whats wrong?

If the fluid is full, take it to a trans shop. They can find out the problem without pulling the trans. 80% of trans problems can be fixed through the pan.

i had fixed it. he accidentally drained the tranny fluid instead of his motor oil. it wouldn't shift because it was low on fluids, so i had refilled it with the proper fluid and it runs fine now.
