what steps did you take to paint your toolbox?

    Magnaflow 12588, TSC lo-pro extra deep toolbox, step bars and bull bar
    so i have pretty much decided to paint my tool box black. what step did you guys take? i have the kobalt slimline lo-pro in chrome. do i really need to sand it down and prime it? or can i just get away with cleaning it and hitting in with some rustoleum?

    I'm doing mine this weekend. I was thinking about taking a wire brush to it first, give it a good cleaning, a couple of coats of primer, an few coats of satin black, and then clear coat it. Or I might just take a black sharpie to it.:D

    I used an electric grinder with a wire brush attachment. 2 coats of primer. and 2 coats of black spray paint with high gloss. Turned out really well.

    (Former Tacoma owner) 17" Mustang wheels, Eclipse AVN 5435, Deck plate mod, vertical Maglite mount, K&N high-flow air filter, Delta gullwing box, amp, sub, 30 percent tint, floor lighting, tilt activated glove box lighting, lighting behind seat, engine bay lighting, SR5 grill surround, power windows, outside temp display
    I sanded like a mad man. Then I washed it with soap and water and immediately dried it. Then I put some adhesion promotor on it and then laid on the rustoleum.

    scuff with red scotch brite or sand then spray self etching primer duplicolor has it.self etching primer is used for bare metal or aluminum for better adhesion.sparyed mine with rustolium bedlinner.came out good.
