Anybody put in a louder horn?

I don't have many gripes about my 06 Taco, but one I do have is that I think it needs a louder horn. I mean, it sounds like a car, not a truck!!

I'm sure most of you have seen the train horn sites on the web, but I don't want one that noisy, those are ridiculously loud. In fact, I'm not sure they are even legal. If you haven't seen one of these sites, check out http://www.hornblasters.com

I was hoping that someone had figured out a way to retrofit a louder stock horn into their Taco..?

 

I got some train horns in mine... much more effective...

They sound awesome and you'll never stop laughing at the people you scare.

 

I would love the train horns, but don't feel like putting the money into it right now. I was thinking of going to the wreckers and ripping a horn out of an old Chevy or something. Don't really know what would be required to hook it up to the Tacoma though.

 

check out autoloc. they make all kinds of stuff for custom cars and trucks. I used their door poppers in my last truck and it was really good quality stuff.

I put horn on my wife little truck years ago...it sounded like a semi's...and it was loud and she like, TornApart, enjoyed the reactions of those idiot drivers that would try and pull boner moves on her! I drove it once and had someone try and cut me off...I hit the horn and they nearly crashed to avoid me! Probably not the safest thing nor legal but a riot to use!

 

you could just take off the litle baffle cover on the front of the horm. I did it and got desent results. Sounds more shrill

 

i would have rather had train horns, but i didnt have the $ for a good set, so instead i opted for a set of air horns from pep boys, pretty loud, and they are alot better than that clown sound that comes from the stock horns.

 

Took the baffles off the two existing horns, and wired in two Hella horns. Plenty loud enough. Was worried about the horn relay not taking double the load, but so far so good, just won't lay on them for too long at a time.
