Just received my bushing. Thanks ECGS. Is the inside of the bushing supposed to be perfectly smooth? Mine has a small line from front to back on the inside surface. I don't want to install it and damage the axle surface.

It looks like a weld that should have been machined flat but wasn't.

    Thanks.

See my gallery for pics of what I am describing.

That is where the material is coming together it is a split bushing, It will not damage the axleshaft.

So, this morning/afternoon, I replaced my needle bearing with the ECGS sleeve, and I have driven the truck 10 miles, and not a peep from the front end. The noise was becoming very bad, and It was transferring through the gas pedal enough to make me notice the vibe with the music cranked. So, with road tires, stereo off, and out of gear (no engine noise) there is not even a whisper of noise coming from my truck.

THANK YOU ECGS! I really hope this is a permanent fix, and the sleeve will last the lifetime of the truck. I offroad a fair amount, so I hope it stands the test of abuse and time.

I hope everyone has the same result as I have had.

Does anyone know if ECGS is going to come out with a bearing fix for the 1st gens? My '04 is getting progressively worse and I really don't want to replace the entire clam.

    Chase,

What about the 5th gen (2010+) 4Runner? Does it share the same diff as the Tacoma or will there be a seperate part required?

THANKS for the bushing for the Tacoma! I now have 15k miles on mine and it is smooth as glass.

New to the forum! I have read the last 45 pages and am curious if any one has noticed a squealing noise caused from the needle bearing? It's continuous after about 10mph? And does not go away when 4x4 is engauged,Sounds kinda like a u- joint, I originally thought that was what it was due to the fact that one of the joints was getting alot warmer than the others, change it and the noise is still there???? Bushing tool and seal ordered from chase at ecgs. Planning on changing out the Needle bearing this weekend!

It should. Mine was completely seized though and didn't squeal. That's a new one to me.
