Serpentine belt * timing 'chain'? belt?

Ladies N Gentlemen,

Usually i am amazed at the number of posts that show me exactly how to fix my Taco's issues.

So far, a play by play change of the front passenger side wheel bearing. Saved $900. A 2 minute soldering job that fixed the overhead temp gauge, saved $200.

Now that we're at 99K its time for all the general MX that I have neglected. i have the replacement serpentine belt in hand, just looking for a tutorial. I assumed that it shoud be as easy as my 90 corvette. Loosen it up (tensioner), take off the old and slip on the new, just wanted to make sure.

As I searched, low and behold my Taco has a Timing 'Chain'? not belt? HOLY MOLY! Have I been wooried about a 100K Timing Belt replacement for no reason?

Please have mercy on my lack of MX know how. But smart ass comments won't hurt my feelings.

The serpentine belt is easy just pay attention how the belt is routed, the 4.0 has a timing chain so no worries.

I was extremely happy when i found out they went to a time chain instead of a belt. There goes the $750+ replacement cost.

 

I had my truck in a local shop a couple weeks ago for a front wheel bearing replacement. And I was going to have him replace the factory serpentine, since it has 173,000 miles on it. The mechanic told me the belt was fine & didn't have any cracks. He said there wasn't a need to replace it. Wow!
