I have a 2009 Tacoma automatic with no mods.

Lately I've noticed a problem with the headlights not always automatically shutting off when I open the drivers door after turning off the ignition. Sometimes they turn off as soon as I open the door. Sometimes I have to close it and open it a second time. A several times I've had to open & shut the door 3 times. A few times its take 5 or more open-n-shuts, usually to the point where I give up and turn the lights off manually. I haven't been able to determine any pattern to when it turns off properly and when it doesn't.

I'm still under warranty so I'll be taking it in to be checked this week. But I was curious to hear if anyone else has experienced a problem like this and what might be the cause.

same here, if you open the door and they stay on, give the door switch a wiggle and see if that solves it

Followup on my original post: I noticed in addition to the headlights issue that the "door open" warning light on the dashboard was not lighting up and the "key in ignition" alarm was not sounding in the same instances where the headlights were turning off.

The problem continued intermittently. I finally was able to get my Tacoma in to Toyota, where the service rep immediately diagnosed the issue as a problem with the "courtesy switch" in the driver's door. They did not have the part in stock so I had to come back again a week later after it arrived. It was of course covered by the warranty. Got it fixed today and hopefully that will be the end of the problem.
