With my lift the before measurement of the CB was 20 inches from the bottom of the CB to the ground. After turning it it went to 19 and a half. For me that made all the difference.:)

So you got away with it from a half inch diff in elevation.... amazing....

when you consider making up a half inch difference in relation to driveshaft length is really, nothing. But in your case it means EVERYTHING..!

Damn these Tacomas... constantly fucking with my/our heads....:p

Got a PM asking about this and how to measure with his digital angle finder. This is my response that I sent to him. Thought it might help here as well.

I think ideally I'd run a one piece shaft with a double cardan at the t-case and just set the pinion to a near 0* angle with the shaft. As has been done on here.

    Just my .02

Yeah. Amazing what half an inch does to your drive train. I guess I am one of the lucky ones out there. I thought I was gonna have to deal with the vibration or try and make the dealership fix.:D

Custom sliders, Bilstien 5100s in front - 5100's + AAL + TSB in rear, dif drop, LED's in scoop, CB installed in console, flashlight mount, window tint, locking compartment in bed.
I took the low tech road to see if i can find out how big i need to shim the CB to fix this. Once i findit, i will replace the spare parts with an actual plate/bar.

    OME 3/8 drop = nope
    OME 3/8 drop + 1 and 2 washers = nope
    2 Washers = nope
    3/4 nut = nope
3/4 nut + washers (see pick) = nope
I cant go 1" because the bolts arnt long enough.

I am TSB leaf + AAL + Billie 5100s in the rear. That puts me close to 3" in the back. Im gonna try and flip the CB and then test it alone like yours. Then start adding the plates, washers and nuts up to 3/4 and see if I can find the right mix for me.

Then I will get longer bolts and try up to 1".

HA! I think I got a cure for you dude, after doing a fair amount of reading, this seems to be a common denominator for alot of members fighting with this BS Toyota has left to the consumer to fix... I'll bet if you were at a true 3", this issue would go away.. I don't know what kind of AAL you have & don't want to know, if you want 3" of lift , dump the AAL & overload (thats right, dump it!!) You can keep the extra TSB spring add 2 chevy springs , get the true 3" lift.... vibration free & I still think they should've kept the sliding yoke as on 1st gens. this too would eliminate alot of headaches from trying to get rid of vibes...

    :yay:
After all that, just fliping the CB seems to have fixed 90% of it. I wish I would have done that first. I guess I was hesitant because I didnt want to mess with early wear on the CB itself. I dont really know why that helps anyways but I'm happy.

Quick question: Who has an 08 access cab with an OME lift? That's what I have. I used the nitrochargers and dakars with the CB drop. I have take off shudder and possible vibration all the way up to 50 or so. It's worse on the lower end but only terrible below 10. I havent been on the interstate, so I havent driven it over 60 or so yet.

My brain hurts from reading all this......

I have a AAL in the back (toytec 2") (3"shims under rear springs)

I have a extremely small amount of vibe at take off...

At around 68 (somewhere above 65) to about 75 or so I have a vibration, nothing crazy but annoying, the only real way I can tell it is there is if I am driving without a passenger I can see the front passenger seat vibrate :)

I will try the CB flip and see if that works...

I have to agree though that this thread got very confusing for a while and it all seems to come back to

    "try dropping the CB"

I had a 99 TJ with 6 inches of lift, Tom Woods drive shaft made that ride sweet, I just can't see spending that kind of money (yet) for such a small lift..

From everything I have read, only 05s and up seem to be getting a vibration. However I just lifted my 03 DCab and I know have a vibration, albeit a slight one from a little over 50MPH to about 60MPH +/-.
I am going to check all the angles and what not but here is my question. The truck has only been lifted for a week now and has less than 100 miles on it, if/when the truck settles could that affect the driveline angles again?

You're a 1st gen & your springs are eliptical (center offset) You can probably get by with dropping the Carrier..

I have the same issue. Is this a problem or is it just that the trucks suspension is so stiff that it causes the passenger seat to vibrate like crazy?

Great question, I wouldn't use the term vibrate like crazy though..just vibrate ;)

I will have to keep an eye(feel) on it next time someone is in the seat...

My 2009 was this way. The seat would vibrate when empty, never did anything with the suspension, came that way stock. My 2011 and the new 2012 were the same way also. Now with the lift it is also doing it.

Still trying to cure this shudder and vibe myself. I attempted the CB drop with the OME CB, but this made it worse. If I recall correctly when I measured the angles. TC was zeroed, before CB was 6.8, after CB was 6.9, diff was 1.4. I'm not entirely sure what to do next. I have 3º shims that I have yet to install and quite a few washers. I did try and rotate the CB but it wouldn't actually fit between the bracket anymore and I didn't want to wedge it in there and put any stress on the sides of it.

    ???

If I get this thread right basically there is no one answer to 3" lift (mine is OME Dakar).
Just have to try different size shims and spcares to find the best??? right!

    Depends who you ask :D

Been thinking of dropping my 2 inch AAl and going with a whole new leaf pack (Toytec or something) but not sure if that will get rid of the issues or not...

    I know!!!

Let's start a thread for lifts with a complete pack replacement to see how their "vibes" are?
