RR electric diff loc question

i have the RR dif lock in the rear diff and i was reading the manual and had some questions

it says turn off after i get "unstuck"

can i do light offroading with it on? ie. small hill climbs mud and other stuff without damaging it?

this is my first experiance with a locker so any comments are welcome!

thanks!

You only want it on in low traction situations. Drive around with it off, if you get stuck turn it on. If still stuck get a friend to pull you out.

You can go as fast as you like with it on but the back end will want to slide out if you take a corner too fast.

use it BEFORE you get stuck...

NEVER use it on dry pavement...

So is it fine to have on on a dry dirt trail that is pretty plain and generic flat little bumps just kinda slippery?

If you think you will need it, you can use it in that situation. But if you dont plan on climbing, deep mud, or situations where a wire may be in very low traction or off the ground, I wouldn't bother on a hard dry trail.

no need to use it on hard pack or gravel roads. well unless you wanna drift some corners, just be carefull and dont roll your damn truck!

I always turn off the traction control when offroad, just hit the traction button once and it turn off but will leave the auto LSD on.

if you just want "one tire fire" then at a stop push in and hold the traction button and it will turn everything off.

the locker will also turn everything off and also turn off the ABS system.

I would suggest going out and testing out all these options and learn what toyota and you off road package has blessed you with but take a buddy with another truck if you think you might get stuck somewhere.
