After reading and seeing this topic I might just go buy a sled. I have an atv but a snowmobile would be very useful here. My truck carries the atv perfectally so a snowmobile should be too bad

I have a 2008 Yamaha Phazer MTX that I use primarily to find back country runs for snowboarding and filming...

I leave my snowmobile during the summers at my buddies house out in parowan, Utah. we usually wait till the 2nd weekend of the season to bring the sleds up and leave at my buddies cabin at Brian Head, Utah.

that's what you call some lame @ss music...what a waste of some good powder...I would have built a kicker or 2 and hit it up with my snowboard...to tow runs with the snowmobile...:D

    crap bolted and welded together....
i attempted to put my m1000 in the bed, yea after driving down the road about 1 mile, i realized that hey, this isnt gunna happen ever, it hung out of the bed pretty far, and the front was jacked up pretty high to clear the wells and just was a failed attempt. But now that we take 3 sleds when we go instead of one, i trailer it up.

Looks good. I have built a couple of these things and in my experience having the ramp as a solid piece works the best, it is obviously heavier to lift in and out but it makes it so much easier to drive the sled in.The folding aluminum ramps are worth every penny to. As well make sure the length of the deck is the same length as your sled or no more shorter then a foot. It makes loading so much easier.

    Tsk, tsk!

Why say such a silly thing?:D

Similar setup in my 2005 that I had in my 1998. 2005 pic is the first week I brought it home. Will have to update the pic in the near future.

And to the individual who was confused, the front half of the sled is way heavier than the rear.

Have you guys considered adding a headache rack to your designs?

From my memory of sleds in Minnesota before I left, they weren't the most delicate clutches at low speeds. It seems that it wouldn't take much to push a ski through the back window.

i had considered making a small brace that butted up against the nose of the sled that stopped the ski's from touching the glass. The brace would have a rubber stopper

My old sled was 11 1/2 feet long. If you put in in backwards you'r going to regret it don't want to trash your truck get a trailer, backing your truck into a snow bank to get the sled off is not my ideal of a smart thing to do either.

This thread is way too long. Your problem is that you are overthinking it. Put the sled in the back with one (or both) ski(s) up on a wheel well. The sled does NOT need to sit flat. If you are worried about the tailgate bending, cut yourself a PLANK the same length as the width of the tailgate to distribute the load.
