info i pulled on the cheaper kits is ,no power ,very hard to tune, an blowen motors,research,an wish you best of luck,
on closing the best thing ive noticed is i avg about20/ 22 miles per gal on cng[no egg smell], i get 16 on regular gas, ,my weekly aveage is about 20 miles per gal, with tires an lift, not bad

Thats pretty awesome. Used to do some research for a forklift company that had mostly CNG and propane fuel systems and wondered why more vehicles didnt use CNG.

I work in the natural gas industry. Wish CNG was more readily available there's not really any filling stations around here. We've had some projects with some municipalities converting some of their fleets to CNG vehicles with great success.

We have an issue with valve wear on our hyster forklift at work. It runs LP. I was told that gaseous fuels are missing the insulating "wet" barrier quality that fluid fuels are capable of supplying. The local engine rebuild specialists also told me this gaseous fuel is dry & will lead to valve seal/guide issues prematurely. Is there a different story for CNG??

I have heard that certain seals may be at risk, but most seem to agree that by running some regular fuel periodically most problems should be avoided.

A CNG kit would be awesome. It would be 100x better than a diesel swap.

Ya, so I installed more or less the $600 kit (posted above) that a guy in Utah was selling out of his garage. After I bought used tanks and a few parts along the way I was into it about $1000. I got it running without too many problems. Any of the Swagelok tubing fittings that I bought were easy to make and seal, but there were some foreign tubing fittings that came with the kit that were a pain in the butt to get to seal. I needed the guy I bought it from to help me tune in the fuel mixture a little bit (its supposed to be pre programed but it needed to be dialed in a bit).

After that it ran, but there was one major problem. And Im only guessing what was going on, but I think this was it: The truck's computer was reading combustion sensors on the CNG exhaust and it didn't like it so after about 2 or 3 weeks of running CNG the truck computer would try to adjust the fuel trim and bring it so far out of wack that my unleaded system would stop working. And that is a problem because this CNG system required that I start the truck on unleaded before switching over to CNG. At this point the truck just would not start because it was either running too rich or too lean and I would have to unplug the battery for 10 or 15 minutes to let the computer reset. After that it would work fine for another 2 or 3 weeks.

I ran this system for about a full year. I even installed a switch in the cab of the truck from which I could disconnect the battery without popping the hood. I finally got sick of it though and I eventually tore out the whole system. Sold the tanks and a nice cover I fab'd up for them. It kind of felt like the whole truck just was slowly running worse and worse over time. Like everytime I reset the computer it would last for shorter and shorter durations.

So Im back to running straight unleaded. It was a fun project. My advice coming out of this is that if you are going to install a CNG system on your vehicle, it needs to "trick" the computer to read pseudo signals while you're burning CNG.

i have a 11.4 gallon tank in back ,so depending on driving conditions i have around a 180 mile range on cng ,plus the regular tank [if i want to run it]

Jeez you guys are lucky in Canada as is $1.40 a liter that's like $5.60 a gallon
