    Hi,

First post... lots of nice rides around here.

Searched around a bit for camper shell info, but I couldn't find any mention of how compatible a previous generation Tacoma camper shell will be with an 2008 Access Cab Tacoma. Anybody have any idea?

I'm not looking for a perfect fit in terms of looks, but my only concern is that the old shell sit squarely on top of the new Tacoma bed, or close enough so that it can be safely mounted. Anybody tried on an old Tacoma shell on a new Tacoma (long bed) for size?

some of this, a little of that
Hi there and welcome to TW!! I dont know how well they will fit, I think the second gen Tacoma's are something like 4" wider than the older ones. Although I don't know about the bed rails. Hopefully one of the more informed will post soon for you.

The 2nd gen is much larger than the 1st gen. I doubt it would work, and if it did it would no be safe.

    None!
2nd gens have a wider bed by about 4". We drove 200 miles hoping to snag a great bargain, only to find out a gen 1 shell was too narrow.

Thanks Jack, this seals it for me. Looks like I will have to shell out for a new 2-nd gen shell : -)

Thanks to all who have replied, now I won't even look at craigslists results for 1st gen shell.
