Is there a motor mount issue?

The July issue of Off Road Magazine, page 50, has an article relating to frame cracks/cracking near the bottom of the motor mounts. This relates to at least the 2005/2006 trucks, including Tacoma, FJ, and 4 Runners with the V-6.

According to the article, and to a company who will fix this issue with two nice custom gussetts, this issue is not rare.

I did a search here with no results and supposed someone on this 2nd generation forum would have suffered from this issue. The story at least had me check mine out closely - never a bad thing.

A friend with a newer Tacoma says his vehicle has a reinforced gussett from the factory.

I'm gonna try to post a photo I took identifying the problem area.

There are threads on it...you just need to change your chant to the search gods.

It is fixed in later years with a reinforced plate beneath the mount.
