New BajaRack for Tacoma Double Cab!

Just received/mounted my BajaRack designed specifically for the Tacoma Double Cab. This is a new product from these folks. Ordered through TRDParts4u.com for $423.00. Although, shipping was amazingly expensive via freight at $152.00. This rack is incredibly well built... and over the years, I have owned both a Yakima MegaWarrior and a Defender Rack for my Jeeps.

This rack is very strong, light, powder-coating is superb. My wife and I mounted it in 5 minutes. Excellent mounting hardware with no tools needed. I hear barely a whisper of noise on the roof at highway speeds with it's integrated fairing. Tell me what you think.

EDIT: Note, you must use the factory roof rack crossbars for this rack. I'm sure it could be mod'd for use with after-market bars.

Thx! The wife and kids and I go camping at least once a month, so this will come in handy. I lost a bit of cargo space when I got rid of my F-250 long bed. No regrets, though!

Thx. Need to post pics from this Sunday: My wife painted my factory skid plate with DupliColor bed liner paint... very durable. Used it on my CJ7 floorboards and never had to refinish it. Also mounted KC's on the rear of rack and added backup lights under the rear bumper.

 

I'm looking at this same rack. Can you lock it to the crossbars at all? I'm worried about it being stolen!

So I would need to the the folding TRD roof crossbars correct?

 

Yes...this is made specifically for the OEM crossbars. It has four mounting points made up of a bar and two screw bolts that secure under each crossbar and attach to a similar bar welded to the rack.

I have not theft-proofed it but I could relatively easily; just haven't been concerned about it. You could very easily Locktite some nuts on the end of each screw and that would be one deterrent. Another is a cable lock through the rack to the crossbars. Other than that, I think there is no greater risk than any other rooftop rack, short of drilling into the roof.

Do you think it could be modified to hold lights up there?

I really want a roof rack and a light bar but only really have money for one...

 

BajaRack makes a light bar attachment and they even sell lights. Just go to their website. I have two small utility lights mounted in the back because there are mounting points for those. It wouldn't be hard to make something that would work.

 

Damn I really want one of those now!!

Did they just come out? I can't believe I haven't come across these before??
