Wait - a stealership was trying to charge you an arm and a leg for something? SHOCKING

Once I buy my (used) Tacoma, I fully expect to never, ever park it at a dealer. Why pay more for shitty service?

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars

Im at 66K now but i had taken my truck in around 40k to find out why my airbag light was on. Told me in was the clock spring and said it would be $600 to fix. Think i have a chance of getting them to fix it since i had it checked out before the warranty was up? I didnt have 6 bones to drop at the time

If its easy enough id rather just do it myself. Just nervous about removing the airbag

I'm glad to see everyone is getting this problem resolved for the most part.

my light came on a few days ago at about 70,000 miles. i brought my baby to advance auto to get the code read and they said there "thingy" only reads engine codes and wouldn't pick this up. Is that BS? they really can't read an airbag code?

Depends on what "thingy" they have. If they have a geniune Tech II device, it will read and diagnose any code, as long as the software is up-to-date. (Keep in mind they may charge you $40-50 just to plug the thing in - Tech II's cost a shitload to buy & maintain). If they got a cheap-ass code reader from wal-mart... then you should go to a different shop :D
