2008 D-4D swap pics

We get tons of emails regarding the D-4D swaps so I figured I'd post up when the customer allows us to. We're currently filming a test drive video for the youtube channel. Next is the chip upgrade and are scheduled at the dyno next week. 425 ft/lbs is the expected output at the wheels so we'll see if we get there. Enjoy -Todd

The last two we did went to CA for celebrities and they had no problems registering and smogging them.

How much does it cost? Technically it is illegal in Cali, but if youre a celebrity its a different story. For a legal engine swap in cali the engine must come out of a newer model available in CA with full CA emissions equipment. The D4D is not available in any vehicle sold in the US and will be very illegal in CA.

This truck is currently getting 26-28 mpg in town. Not a cheap swap by any means, but you get great mileage and TONS of torque. This truck is also getting a WVO system which will make operating costs plummet.

Not to get too personal, but any estimate on what I guy would need to spend to get a motor and install on a tacoma? Or maybe a 4runner? Would LOVE to have one. You're welcome to PM me if you don't want to post it on the forum.

Depends on what we're installing really (auto/manual, 4wd/2wd). The engine/trans (aka. half cut) is approx $11.5 and the installs are $10k. Not cheap but when you think about what we're doing (gutting a semi-new vehicle and completely changing it's mode of power), it's not that bad. Everything is factory toyota so no adapters etc. are used in any way.
