I have it, as wlel, and it looks to be planned and not an painting ovesight. I feel like it is a rough thicker paint to keep from getting damaged so easily. Thats just me though, never have I had a vehicle in which the maker thought ahead and done this either though

never has bothered me though..

yeah mine is like that too. don't worry though i heard when the new design comes out in 2012 they aren't even going to paint them. they are just going to be bare metal. that is actually toyota's solution to the frame rust problem. if your body is rusting too you will think less about your rusting frame.

its also a rust preventative... i think thats how you spell that... if you look at the older yota's, they would always rust along the corners of the fenders as well as the bottom of the doors. not many other manufacturer's do this with thier vehicles.
