For a more complete list do we want to add sockets and wrenches for common aftermarket parts? I can get sizes for SPC Light Racing UCA's and SPC LCA cams.

    YES.
And someone please add little things like the icon UCA uniball bolt that requires a 12 point ... 9/16? Or is it metric...
Either way, this is exactly why we need to add common stuff on here. I went out to mess with mine the other day and forgot I needed a 12 point socket. Woulda ruined my day if I was on a trail not near my garage.
    This.
I always keep one pair of unopened safety glasses in the door because when something breaks, it's not in you're driveway under a clean truck, it's in the dirt dripping mud after you hit something too hard.

There are two different nuts for the battery terminals that require 10mm and 11mm sockets.

Added to OP, only took me (4) years to do it. :D

Added to OP. Also note that you can use the factory skid plate bolts on the drums, they are the exact right size. I did it and it worked great.

I can't wait to buy a set. I've just about died sometimes without them.

For just your basic I-need-a-little-help kit I carry this little motorcycle toolroll all the time, fits right next to the OEM jack in the underseat jack compartment http://www.motosport.com/bikemaster-17piece-tool-kit

Crom's list is dynamite, if I was starting out I'd buy this http://www.sears.com/craftsman-140-...140000&pla=&kispla=00948140000P&mktRedirect=y for $70, ditch the plastic case, put the sockets on socket rails, buy a 14" Craftsman toolbag, toss all of it into the toolbag adding whatever is missing from Crom's list like needlenose, etc, maybe add a hammer, files, offset screwdriver, crescent wrenches, a multikit with all of the Torx, Phillips, flathead bits in it.

$120 later you have a nice kit that probably only weighs about 35-40 lbs. Augment as you please, there is plenty of room in a 14" toolbag. Not for a torque wrench, though.

This thread served as the genesis for my hand tool kit that I've dedicated and assembled for the truck. I take my tools with me on all my trips. The idea is to be self supporting and be able to perform emergency repairs.

I had some of my kit recently laid out and took some pics.

    Metric sockets and extensions

    Everything else
    [IMG]

All of it and more goes into this hard sided EXFO case and strapped to the bed.

I have a small 120pc Craftsman set, and a toolbox of random tools. A lot of the tools I have I've bought as I needed them.

Not Toy specific, but a telescoping magnet wand is a good kit addition for $3.

that is an awfully nice field kit, that sould solve most simple issues...but major issues, like tearing the king pin nub off a Dana 60 down in a mud hole, miles from a paved road is a whole different ball of wax.

Thank you for your astute observation of the obvious. I'll make sure to go out right away and add all the crap I need to work on an axle that the Tacoma does not have.
