Call the dealer. Since you bought the truck at a honda dealer, is that where you bought the extended warranty? Or through one of those non dealer warranty companies?

Toyota may not accept that warranty. It sounds like any warranty work will have to be done at Honda. I would check with the Toyota dealership anyway.

No worries. My 05 Tacoma has 96,000 miles on it & still going strong.

If you have the problem, and you have warenty, yes they will perform the TSB on it. A lot of people seem to not understand the difference between a TSB and a recall.

A TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) is a publication to help out the technician with diagnosing a vehicle, showing a common problem, or making them aware of an updated part. Just because there is a TSB on the vehicle does not mean that you can just go in and get the work performed for free. You have to have the problem first, and have warenty second.

With a recall, as long as your vehicle qualifies, they have to perform the work for free, but recalls are generally only for safety issues.

His regular warranty ran out. And with a Honda extended warranty, I doubt Toyota is going to accept it.

If your warenty will cover it, yes. Like I said the TSB is just a tool for the tech to use. If the Honda dealership is the one doing the work, you may want to make them aware that there is a TSB on it, since chances are they won't know or check. If you can find a copy of the TSB you may want to print it off and bring it in for them to use, otherwise they should be able to look it up with alldata. Your extended warenty is through a different company, not Honda. Even if you were to buy it from a Toyota dealership the extended would probably be through a different company.

TSB would cost you money if you are not under warranty. You can always ask, it never hurts to ask.

It may not be worth the paper it is written on. This is something you need to do some leg work on. You should take the paperwork to a Toyota dealer & see if it is valid there. If not then I would go back to Honda & make sure it is valid there.

as far as i know, the tsb only works up to 36k miles, regardless of extended warranty. i talked to toyota hq about the bent tailgate tsb and they also said that was only up to 36k miles, eventhough i had the 100k mile warranty from them

My truck was not covered under Toyota's extended warranty. So far it hasn't covered any TSB, missing mud flaps or molding falling off. The list of what it does cover is a lot shorter than what it doesn't cover.
