access LE

Got my Access LE from Truck Alterations within 7 days of order. It took me about 1 hr to install by myself. Only difficult part was taking the bolts of the Tacoma rails. I stripped one of them and had to use a needle nose vise grip to get it off. I went out of town the following day and hit some heavy rain and every thing was dry. Overall: great product and Truck Alterations is a good dealer.

I'm pretty well decided on the LiteRider. I'll give Luke a call and see what he can do.

I actually do not need it to be waterproof too often. Only when the fam and I are on trips or I'm hauling something that can't get wet - and that's only once a month or so. Besides that, it's my daily driver and I think the tonno gives it a clean look.

I will probably fab up some weatherstripping on the front rail.

Spoke to Luke and ordered the Access Roll-Up. It has the same element seal as the LE but not the dual latching system, which is not important to me. It was $60 more than the LiteRider.

I figured weather stripping would cost $20 or so plus the time to install. I'll post up some pictures once installed.

^Yup, that's a good deal. I'm buying the Element Seal separately. That's the good thing about the Access covers, they surely have one that fits your needs.

Ordered Friday afternoon - partied all weekend - and installed it Tuesday evening. Not bad!

plug - http://truckalterations.com

I'll get some daylight pictures this weekend. Install was easy. It is very straightforward and little to no adjusting necessary. Took me 45 minutes because I was careful. Looks awesome - very clean and tight. I love that you can't see the ribs in it. It gives it that hardcover look.

So good so far...

Not to jack this , but what covers allow you to use/keep your bed rails ? I dont want the hard top ( big trunk) . Seems no one likes the fold up covers . What about Torza ? Anyone have one ?

As pictured above, I installed the Access Roll-Up and have full use of my bed rails. The only thing I can't do is remove the cleat by twisting it sideways and pulling - I have to slide the cleat down to the end and pull it out that way (no room to turn it sideways).

The LiteRider, Roll-Up, Lorado and Limited Edition covers all allow use of the rails. You remove them and install the cover rails behind the bed rails.

Exactly like mine. I think the differences are the Element Seal and the dial.

I obviously haven't had it on for long but I can't imagine I will be adjusting that dial too often. They both have the dial but one has a bigger knob - big whoop!

That goes into the "useless upgrade" category. The element seal is, IMO, the only real difference.

Yeah it stays pretty tight. That is, if you remember to actually seal the edges unlike some goofball I know (me). Obviously being out in the sun will loosen it up a bit.

Question

Has anyone purchased teh New Undercover se with the Single lock in middle and new design top?

I really like the idea that it won't leak, but the Folding ones like the G4 Really give you utility. Like if your out one day and on the side of the Road you see a FREE sign for a wine barrel. Fold 1 or 2 pieces, and wham bam! hahah

G4 New and also, redesigned from the G2

Wink

Oh forgot to ask.

What do you think is better for no rain getting into bed, Xtang or G4?

Has anyone who has the undercover, put something large in bed and tied down the UNdercover while truck was moving? I don't think it would be too much of an issues but wanted to see if anymembers have done it or had any issues...

thanxx

I have an Xtang solid fold cover and it is a piece of shit. The seals are always falling off, the seals were poorly cut. There are 1/2" gaps between the tailgate seals and the side seals. I can't take it though a car wash without douching everlything in the bed. The painted aluminum trim also scratches easily. The spring loaded latches under the rear panel are difficult to operate and wife can't latch or unlatch them.

Did I mention that this was a POS?

Unless you live out here in So. Cal or have a local shop that sells them...Gaylord's FTW! I have the http://www.gaylordslids.com/x2000.php with the Speedsturr Wing. They are expensive, but practically bullet proof and they look so clean and you never have to worry about the elements getting in. It comes with a hard wired light and keyless remote and it is very simple to take off.

I'm sorry for your problems with the x tang. I don't like to hear that anyone bought something they are not happy with. Can you send the Bish back? I would complain even it was 3 years ago...lol

I have a motorhome that leaks at the LEAKPROOF SEal... So, I'm not to keen on anything that's not 1 solid piece.
