So I received my AMP bed extender in the mail yesterday and put it all together and it seems like everything is already there. But they are also sending my an installation kit separately. So my question is, what is in the installation kit? Should I wait til I get that to put it on my truck or can I do it with what they gave me.

It came with the mounts and screws that are needed and also the straps so I cant imagine what else they need to send me. Anybody who has had to put one together would greatly help!

Thats a good question. It probably is the permanant install then. Im not positive but that would make sense if it were the case. And that means that I will end up waiting for the kit then cuz I would want to take it off if needed.

Maybe someone else who has purchased from there can enlighten us...

So did you buy yours used or did you buy it new and have to put it together yourself?

    Coconut,

I purchased mine new from Auto Anything as well about 3 months ago. But mine did not come with basic latches that apparently weren't for Toyota vehicles. Same thing Bed Extender came first and then a smaller package 3 days later. Inside that separate tiny package was the item number you stated, and it was the longer strap inserts, screws and plates made for Toyota vehicles. The only difference I can see is that the Toyota latch plastic pieces were longer than the included ones, the plates and screws were the same. Strange, they also called the part quick release, I didn't get that at all, as it holds the thing down. I think it was an after the fact thing that they made these little pieces just for the Tacomas, as possibly these extenders and their parts are generic and will fit most small trucks of all brands, I could be wrong though...

It was weird, I felt the instructions for the whole thing were pretty lame. I was worried most about the template and drilling into the bed itself, but I ended up going with the below template instead and it worked out great.

But I also got 2 extra nylon/plastic tabs and screws in my original box. 2 wide ones were already on the straps and then I got an extra longer, thinner set that says is for toyotas. So Im still confused I guess. I prolly will just wait and see what comes in the other package. Worst that can happen is I will have extra parts. Thanks for your response.

So in case anyone cares, It seems that they sent me 2 sets of the same tabs and screws that are for the straps. So I didn't need to wait til I got my 2nd package. I dont know if it was a mistake on AutoAnythings part or if maybe they look so similar, I couldn't see the difference's. Either way, I got my bed extender on and Im happy...:D
