Thanks, I'm looking at the models that have the queen bed, dinette etc. Seems like they all require a 6' bed. Just wanted something self contained, I'm a senior with bad knees.

Keep in mind they are heavy and you would need to upgrade suspension and your truck will be a total dog without a supercharger.

Also my buddy has a flipac. Good idea but not good in extreme weather. they leak and they cant take wind. First hand expereince. If you only camp in perfect weather a flipac might work but bottom line is they are a tent and like any tent not exactly comfortable in extreme weather.

Some who have flipacs think they work great in extreme weather but I would submit they have just not been in extreme weather. First trip out with my friend his soaked through, and I mean really soaked through and that was with the rain fly on.

Next trip out the wind was so severe it almost tore the thing apart, he ended up closing it up and sleeping in the front of the truck.

    A good option is this

    Very weather proof.

    Good luck!

OK, I may have to buy a new truck to meet my need for a slide in hard body truck camper.

I'm really lost on the bed sizes for the Tacoma (which I am sold on). Does anyone know the bed sizes for a 4 door Tacoma? Thanks again for all the posts so far, this forum is so great!

There are 2 bed sizes for the 4 door, short bed and long bed. The short I believe is 60" and the long is 73"ish. www.toyota.com for info on the different models. You can't get the TRD Off-Road in the long bed 4-door, you can get the TRD Sport or SR5 packages though.

Both of those Links I sent offer campers for your truck. On the short bed you just leave your tailgate down. Just call them they will provide you all the help you will need.

It sounds like he's looking for a hardbody camper, not a pop-up with canvas sides at the top. I haven't seen a complete hardbody camper for a smaller truck like a Tacoma yet.
