I don't get annoyed at the initial chime, I appreciate the reminder.

What really annoys me is when I'm driving and my cellphone rings, so I unbuckle (beeeeeep beeeeep beeeeep beeeep) to get the phone out of my pocket. (beeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeep) "Yes, I friggin' know I took my seat belt off, you can't accidentally take it off, (beeeeeeep beeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeep) I will put it back on in a minute so shut up!" (pulling my phone out) (beeeeeeeep beeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeep) (argh I'm gonna miss this call!!) "Hello? Hi. Sorry, (BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP)that's my seal belt chime, (BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP) just a moment, don't hang up, sorry (BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP) AAAHHHH SHUT UP! (click)

    I mean, really.

That's why you take your phone, smokes, etc out of your pockets before you get in and buckle up! :D

Why should I have to stand outside the truck unloading my pockets of anything I might need while driving before I get in?

Shouldn't the truck just work sensibly, instead of me having to re-arrange my life around irritating design flaws?

I've never had a vehicle before that did this. Some of them chime when you take the belt off briefly, but none of them acted like there's a nuclear meltdown about to occur.

I prefer to wear my belt but don't care to be bossed around by my truck. I got a woman for that!

in my reg cab putting anything on my passenger seat (back pack, gallon of milk, etc) sets off the chime.

i turned mine off, but before i knew how, id buckle up before turning the truck on to avoid the stupid beep. like ive said before, im an avid belt wearer but i do feel there are times wear the belt is totally unnecessary.

another time it has gone off is when was stuck and spun the tires up to 12mph and the thing started beeping, even after i stopped and got back out of the truck. its like hey asshole im not moving, im not even in the truck.... your in neutral and the ebrake is on STFU!!!

I don't have the JBL, so there's no bluetooth in the truck. Using the phone is still legal in my state so there's nothing wrong with answering if traffic situations allow.

I hate the seat belt chime and the other crap. When the door is open it drives me nuts. It shouldn't chime when you are in park and E brake on. Especially when I am either cleaning or working with the door open

Yes I am. The chime can be disabled using techstream by entering the "customize" menu. However my 08 DCSB has no customizable options :( 09 and up have a few. If you want the full wiring diagram for the chime/seatbelt circuit just let me know your vehicle info. ^_^

    Thanks for the info man!

I'm studying to be a Toyota tech right now. I'll see if I can get access to my schools Techstream.

My truck is an '11 with the white gauges. Do you think my truck will have any customizable options?

Yes for sure a 2011 will have all the customizable options including auto headlights timer beep and hazard answer back functions and wireless door lock features. Pretty much anything you should want will be in the customize menu.
